Candidates are allowed a total of 6 attempts in JEE Mains, with the count of attempts starting from the year of their class 12 graduation. For instance, if a candidate graduated from class 12 in 2023, they can participate in both the 2023 attempts as well as the 2024 and 2025 attempts. If a candidate chooses not to take the exam in a particular year/session, that attempt will be forfeited. For example, if a candidate who graduated from class 12 in 2023 does not take the JEE Mains exam in 2023, they will have four remaining attempts in 2024 and 2025. With ample attempts available (six in total), it is advisable to prepare thoroughly for the exam before appearing. Participating in the exam without adequate preparation could impact performance.
