The Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) is an annual examination organized by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) for students aspiring to join undergraduate programs in Engineering and Medicine within Karnataka. The KEA, overseen by the Governing Council led by the Honourable Minister of Higher Education, Government of Karnataka, was established in 1994 to conduct entrance exams determining eligibility for government quota seats in professional courses like Medical, Dental, and Engineering. For admission to Medical, Dental, or Ayurveda courses, students must pass the UG NEET-2024 (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), New Delhi. Successful completion of the NEET 2024 exam is mandatory to qualify for admission to Medical or Dental courses through KEA’s Government quota seats.

Karnataka CET 2024 Eligibility Criteria

Prospective candidates aiming for admission to undergraduate engineering programs in Karnataka need to meet the KCET 2024 eligibility criteria to be eligible for the common entrance exam. Applicants for KCET 2024 should hold Indian citizenship. They must have successfully completed their class 12 or 2nd PUC examination. Those who appeared for their class 12 or 2nd PUC exams in 2023 and are awaiting results can also apply for KCET 2024. Eligible students should have studied Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects in their class 12 or 2nd PUC, alongside Chemistry, Biology, or Computer Science as optional subjects, and English as one of the languages of study. Additionally, the applicant must have completed and passed SSLC, class 10, 2nd PUC, or class 12 examinations from Karnataka State.

Karnataka CET 2023 Selection Process

Eligibility for the KCET 2024 selection process mandates students’ successful completion of and passing the KCET 2024 Exam. The initial stage involves document verification at designated help centers. Essential documents such as the KCET application form, fee payment proof, admit card, Class 10 and 12 scorecards, and two passport size photographs must be submitted by students. Upon document submission, authorized officials will provide a unique ID and password after due verification. Subsequently, students proceed to the counselling session during which seat allotments occur online. The process involves two regular allotment rounds, an extended round, and a special round. Candidates selected through this process must confirm their admission by reporting to the allocated institutes.

Karnataka CET Kannada Language Test

Students from Horanadu and Gadinadu regions are required to take the Kannada language test in addition to their Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Maths exams. The Kannada language test is designed at a class 4 level to assess the students' proficiency in Kannada. To pass this exam, students need a minimum score of 12 out of 50. The examination will take place in Bidar, Ballary, Bijapur, Mangalore, and Bangalore districts.
