The conflict is structural, not a matter of student discipline. Board papers reward thorough, presentation-heavy answers across a fixed syllabus, while JEE rewards speed and application on a harder subset.

Most families respond by alternating: entrance preparation until January, then a panicked switch to board exam preparation for two months. That switch is where the damage happens. She cracked JEE Main and also cleared KCET along with other examinations in the same cycle. Multi-exam seasons are won on overlap rather than on extra hours.

KCET, JEE Main and the CBSE syllabus share a large common core, and a student whose fundamentals are genuinely solid is preparing for all three simultaneously most of the time. Throughout the two years, Deepak Sir, himself an IITian from IIT Roorkee with Mechanical Engineering, remained in constant touch with Sharvani and with her parents.

That second half is underrated. Parents of a Class 12 student are making decisions all year about tuition, schedules and how much pressure to apply, usually with very little information. Regular contact meant her family knew where she actually stood rather than guessing from the last test score, so board exam preparation and entrance planning were discussed with everyone holding the same picture.

Choosing Computer Science at IIIT Dharwad

When the results were in, Sharvani made a deliberate choice rather than chasing the most recognisable name available.

Computer Science was her calling, and among the institutions open to her, the IIIT brand is strongly associated with computing. So she joined IIIT Dharwad for Computer Science. This kind of decision is easy to describe afterwards and difficult to make at the time, when family and peer opinion push towards whichever college sounds most impressive. Choosing the right branch over the louder brand is usually the better long-term call.

How to Plan Board Exam Preparation Alongside JEE

The transferable method here is simple to state. Complete the board syllabus early enough that the examination window requires revision rather than learning, and protect entrance momentum straight through it.

When evaluating a Class 12 programme, ask specifically when board exam preparation finishes, not merely whether it is covered. Ask how many entrance mock tests fall inside the board window. Ask who tells the parents where the student really stands. Any institute serious about balancing KCET, CBSE boards and JEE will answer these with dates rather than reassurance.
